Philip Holdcroft's Biography
Phil Holdcroft is a leading voice on resilience and high performance, whose authority comes from a rare combination of combat-tested leadership, academic insight, elite endurance experience and deeply human lessons from adversity. A former Royal Air Force combat helicopter pilot and senior military leader, Phil helps organisations prepare their people to thrive in an uncertain world by equipping them with the mindset, behaviours and practical tools to perform under pressure.
A 20-year military career evolved from combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan to senior leadership roles shaping the development of future leaders. As Director of Leadership Development at the UK Defence Academy, he helped design and deliver world-class leadership programmes for those preparing to operate in complex, high-pressure environments. His expertise is underpinned by deep academic study, including research into resilience, stress, adversity and trauma.
Phil has also tested human performance in some of the world’s toughest endurance environments, rowing unsupported across the Atlantic Ocean, swimming the English Channel, and winning 100-mile ultramarathons. Yet the experience that most shaped his work was supporting his youngest daughter through leukaemia, a journey that transformed his understanding of strength, vulnerability, purpose and human resilience.
Phil’s keynotes are designed to do more than inspire. They give audiences clear frameworks, mindset tools and practical behaviours they can apply immediately, helping individuals and teams build trust, navigate uncertainty and achieve extraordinary goals.
