Christian Habla's Biography

Christian Habla is the Chief Executive Officer of Geopolitical Strategy, an independent advisory partner supporting organisations to navigate global complexity with clarity and confidence. Working with a team of former diplomats, intelligence analysts, and strategic advisors, he helps senior leaders anticipate geopolitical risk, identify opportunity, and make informed decisions in an increasingly uncertain world.

An experienced executive across government, strategy, and law, Christian brings a rare combination of public sector leadership and private sector insight. He most recently served as Head of Reform Strategy and Delivery at Australia’s National Emergency Management Agency, where he led major reform and crisis management initiatives. Prior to this, he advised leading global companies and governments as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company.

Christian has also played a key role in driving reform through multiple Australian Royal Commissions and developed his legal and analytical foundation as a commercial lawyer at King & Wood Mallesons across Australia and Asia. His work sits at the intersection of geopolitics, policy, and business strategy, equipping organisations to respond effectively to shifting global dynamics.

A contributor to Geopolitical Dispatch, a daily briefing for investors and decision-makers, Christian combines rigorous analysis with practical application. As a speaker, he delivers clear, strategic insights on geopolitical trends, helping audiences understand the forces shaping markets and leadership in a fragmented global landscape.

  • Geopolitical crises: Managing the crises you can’t control

With the biggest crises facing businesses increasingly beyond their control—an energy crisis, trade shock or international conflict—what is essential in crisis leadership today? Drawing on public and private-sector crisis experiences across financial services, pandemics, floods, and bushfires, the disasters and successes of crisis responses are laid bare.
