Anjli Raval 's Biography

Anjli Raval is the Management Editor at the Financial Times covering chief executives, boardroom dynamics and the balance of power in modern corporations.

Her reporting focuses on the biggest issues facing leadership teams and how they make decisions under pressure – from abrupt CEO departures and board interventions to the real-world impact of artificial intelligence on jobs and changing workforce expectations.

She has interviewed many of the world’s most influential business leaders and regularly writes columns and features on corporate governance, reputation risk and the factors that shape executive performance.

Anjli regularly covers a range of other topics, including corporate resilience – from disinformation and geopolitical shocks to inclusion and gen Z in the workplace – and competitiveness, with a particular focus on UK capital markets and the business environment for entrepreneurs.

Her work seeks to delve into what really happens behind closed doors. She was nominated for two British Journalism Awards for her investigation with Josh Spero into Sir David Adjaye, the celebrated architect, accused of sexual misconduct and workplace abuse.

In addition to her own journalism Anjli is an Associate Editor and sits on the editorial board, writing business focussed leaders on topics such as corporate turnarounds, long-term sickness, non-compete clauses and talent shortages in critical industries.

Out of her 16 years at the FT she has spent more than a decade reporting on the energy sector from the Middle East, Asia, the US and Europe covering Opec countries, global energy markets, geopolitical faultlines and the transition to low-carbon fuels.

Anjli’s focus on Saudi Arabia and Gulf economies gave her an opportunity to report on a region going through a rapid transformation while seeking to exert its influence on a global level – from how it invests its energy riches to how it forms new geopolitical alliances.

Her many years covering the energy space gave her a window into how organisations navigate uncertainty, particularly against the backdrop of changing political and public sentiment towards action on climate change and stakeholder capitalism.

Before joining the natural resources team, Anjli was an editor and reporter in New York writing news and features about the property and retail sectors as well as the broader US consumer economy.

Anjli has also worked in the New Delhi bureau, where her focus on politics, economics and society enabled her to see how the world’s gaze needs to increasingly shift eastward.

She has done stints on the companies, markets, comment and analysis desks in London since starting at the FT in 2009. Anjli graduated from the University of York with a BA in Politics and Sociology.

She featured in the BBC documentary The Kingdom: The World’s Most Powerful Prince in 2024 and has been a regular presence on BBC radio, Sky News, CNBC and other broadcast media throughout her FT career.
