Tim Flagg's Biography

Tim Flagg is one of the few voices in the UK who genuinely understands artificial intelligence, business, and technology policy. As CEO and co-founder of UKAI, the UK’s only trade association for the AI industry, Tim speaks with rare authority at the intersection of government, industry, and academia, championing the interests of over 200 AI businesses.

A recognised thought leader in AI and tech policy, Tim is a regular presence at the highest levels of national debate, speaking frequently in the Houses of Parliament and headlining major industry events across Europe. From boardrooms to lecture theatres, he brings the AI conversation to business leaders, policymakers, and academics through UKAI’s nationwide programme of events. His LinkedIn following reflects his standing as one of the most influential commentators in the British AI landscape.

Tim’s perspective is grounded in a 28-year career spanning blue-chip organisations including the BBC, NBC-Universal, Hutchison-3G, Avado learning and Zipcar, as well as hands-on experience founding multiple AI and technology businesses. He co-founded EntityX, applying AI to transform advertising targeting, and Intelligence, dedicated to widening access to AI. He also serves as a Non-Executive Director of Greater Than, a publicly listed company using AI to prevent road collisions and reduce CO₂ emissions.

A passionate advocate for responsible and sovereign AI, Tim has pioneered this agenda through UKAI, authoring several influential industry reports and he is currently writing a book on British AI. He presents The Business of AI podcast for UKAI and has hosted podcast series for the IoD and ClickZ.

When Tim speaks, he offers audiences genuine insight into the opportunities and challenges facing the AI industry, and a compelling vision for how British businesses and the UK as a nation can seize the AI opportunity.
