Andrew Baum's Biography

Professor Andrew Baum is one of the world’s best-known voices on real estate investment and the technologies reshaping the built environment. An Emeritus Professor at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, he brings rare credibility across academia, capital markets and boardrooms translating complex change into clear decisions for investors, developers and occupiers alike.

Andrew led Oxford’s teaching activity in real estate (2009–2021) and in 2017 established the Oxford Future of Real Estate Initiative, an industry-supported research programme focused on how innovation and technology will transform the sector. He continues to teach and shape executive audiences, including as Faculty Lead for Oxford’s Real Estate elective taking place 15–19 June 2026.

Alongside his academic work, he is Chairman of Newcore Capital Management and a Research and Strategy Partner for Pi Labs, advising investment leaders and PropTech founders on strategy, governance and growth. His research has anticipated many of the shifts now underway from automated valuations and tokenisation to the changing economics of real estate investment management, including new work published in 2024 and 2025.

Andrew’s ground-breaking report PropTech 3.0: The Future of Real Estate was the most downloaded Oxford Saïd report in 2017 and helped define a global conversation about the future of the industry. He is the author or co-author of multiple leading texts, including Real Estate Investment: A Strategic Approach (4th edition, 2023), as well as updated editions of Real Estate Investment: Strategies, Structures, Decisions (January 2021) and Property Investment Appraisal (January 2021).
