Ian Hislop's Biography

Ian Hislop is a very well-known journalist and satirist with a career spanning more than four decades. As a keynote speaker, he is sought-after for his wealth of experience. He has spoken worldwide, sharing his insights on communication, leadership and more.

Since 1986, Ian has been the Editor of Private Eye, a biweekly satire and current affairs news magazine. The magazine is a firm favourite among the British public and has entertained and enthralled audiences for over three decades. In 1990, he joined the BBC comedy quiz show Have I Got News For You, appearing as a team captain in every episode of the show. He also partnered with long-time co-writer Nick Newman on the creation of Gush, My Dad’s a Prime Minister, The News at Bedtime and Murder Most Horrid.

A regular television personality, Ian has presented Who Do You Think You Are?, Great Railway Journeys, Not Forgotten and School Rules, showcasing the more serious aspects of his personality.

Known for his quick wit, sharp sense of humour, and outspoken political views, Ian has received many awards for his contributions. He holds a Print Journalist of the Year award from the London Press Club and an Outstanding Contribution to British Media award from Campaign British Media. The Observer noted him as one of the funniest acts in British comedy.
