Andy McGrath's Biography

Andy McGrath is the Sherlock Holmes of the Paranormal—an engaging investigator and master storyteller who turns ancient folklore into modern mysteries. As host of the History Channel series Weird Britain (3 seasons, 37 episodes), he explores megaliths, hauntings, cryptids, faeries and cursed objects with a forensic, cinematic approach. London-based and working internationally, he brings audiences insight, credibility and memorable narrative craft.

A bestselling author, Andy wrote Beasts of Britain and the multi-volume Beasts of the World (Vol. 1: Hairy Humanoids; Vol. 2: Water Monsters), distilling two millennia of sightings, science and culture. His forthcoming Beastly Theories (2026) blends eyewitness accounts, forensic analysis, on-location fieldwork and cinematic re-enactments to test extraordinary claims with disciplined curiosity. He also writes for younger readers in the A Monster Kids Guide series (Yeti; Nessie).

A regular expert on screen and radio, Andy appears in Mysteries of Loch Ness (Channel 4) and documentaries including The Sumatran Monster, Big Cat Britain and ELUSIVE (BLAZE, NOW, Sky History, Apple TV). He hosts the podcast Beastly Theories, and his research has generated global headlines—from thermal-drone “Nessie” footage to renewed Excalibur searches. Media credits include Talk Radio, The Unexplained with Howard Hughes, Paranormal Activity with Yvette Fielding, Sasquatch Chronicles and ITV’s This Morning; he is a contributor to the Daily Star.

On stage, Andy helps audiences interrogate evidence, embrace uncertainty and connect story to culture and cohesion. Signature offer Let’s Talk Weird can be delivered as a keynote or a full-day event, weaving personal encounters from Weird Britain with global expeditions. He also addresses ethics in investigation and the future of proof—AI, drones and deepfakes—tailoring talks for corporate, academic and festival settings.
