Rosie King's Biography

Rosie King is an activist, writer, voice artist and public speaker.  Her sister, Daisy, was diagnosed with Kabuki Syndrome as an infant, and their younger brother Lenny was diagnosed with autism at three years old. Both Daisy and Lenny are nonverbal and have very high support needs. After learning more about her brother’s condition, Rosie and her family began to suspect that she, too, may be on the spectrum, and she was diagnosed at age nine.   Rosie and her family have been heavily involved in disability rights activism ever since.

In 2009, Rosie presented the Emmy winning documentary ‘My Autism and Me’ as a special for BBC’s Newsround, as well as other television projects. In 2014, she delivered a TED talk at the JFK centre in Washington, and has since done speaking events across the globe.  The TEDMED video has had more than 3 Million views to date.

She is also a writer and voice artist, most notably for BBC and RTE’s ‘Pablo’, a cartoon teaching children about autism. All members of the cast are also on the autistic spectrum

Rosie graduated from university with a 1st class honours degree in Creative Writing.   She also works with Care Quality Commission to inspect social care facilities for disabled adults.
