Kirsty Wark's Biography

Kirsty Wark FRSE is one of the UK’s most respected journalists and broadcasters with over 25 years. She has also presented documentaries and is an accomplished speaker in global demand to talk about current affairs, broadcasting, and her career as a journalist.

In 2021, she was one of the main presenters of the BBC’s local and mayoral election results coverage, reporting from Edinburgh. She is a familiar voice on BBC Radio 4 who has been presenting the popular series The Reunion since 2020 and occasionally presents Start the Week. Kirsty created a documentary in 2017 called ‘Let’s Talk about The Menopause as she felt that women are still “shockingly ill-informed” about the topic. The BBC documentary was well-received, with Kirsty providing a much-needed voice on an often taboo subject.

As one of the BBC’s longest-serving presenters, Kirsty has worked on many programs, including Tales from Old Europe (2006), The Book Quiz (2008), A Question of Genius (2009-2010) and A Question of Taste (2011).

Kirsty is also an accomplished author with two published novels, The Legacy Of Elizabeth Pringle(2014) and The House By The Loch (2019).

Kirsty is not one to shy away from competition and has competed in and won several cooking competitions. She was awarded Star Baker during the 2013 special of The Great British Bake Off and endured a narrow defeat on 2011’s Celebrity MasterChef. Kirsty has also made several cameo appearances on various shows, including The Politician’s Husband (2013), and Absolutely Fabulous (2012).

In 2017, Kirsty was granted a Royal Society of Edinburgh Fellowship. The Guardian voted her as one of the 50 best-dressed over 50, and she is a Richard Dimbleby Award nominee. She is the recipient of the 1993 Journalist of the Tear and 1997 Best Television Presenter BAFTA Scotland awards.

Kirsty is a highly sought-after speaker, with engagements at major conferences worldwide including TEDx. Her journalistic expertise and insight make her a valuable addition to any event and an excellent choice for keynote addresses and panel discussions.
