Jamie Bartlett's Biography

Jamie Bartlett is a keynote speaker who is an expert on the ‘dark net’, cyber-crime and artificial intelligence.

He is the author of several acclaimed books exploring the relationship between technology and society. His latest book, How to Talk to AI: (And How Not To), is a Sunday Times Bestseller and has been recognised by the BBC as one of the standout ‘must read’ books of 2026, offering practical insights into how we can stay in control of powerful emerging technologies that are reshaping how we live, feel, and think.

His prior book – The People Vs Tech (2018) is about the relationship between technology and democracy, Radicals (2017) is about political outsiders and best-selling The Dark Net (2014) is about internet subcultures, which has been translated into 13 languages. Jamie also co-authored #intelligence with Sir David Omand, which explores the use of internet intelligence by the security services and the police.

His TED Talk about how dark net technology is changing the nature of cybercrime has been viewed more than 7 million times. He is the writer and presenter of the hit BBC podcast series The Missing Cryptoqueen (2019–2026) which exposed a multi-billion dollar cryptoscam and resulted in the founder being placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list. His latest BBC podcast series Everything is Fake and Nobody Cares, which explores modern fakery, trust and AI.

In 2010, Jamie founded the first machine learning department at a think tank, where he built natural language classifiers to study social movements.
