Derek Brower's Biography

Dr. Derek Brower is a leading commentator and journalist specialising in global oil and gas politics.

He is the US news editor at the Financial Times, leading day-to-day news operations across its American network. Derek was previously the FT’s US political news editor and before that its US energy editor and editor of the Energy Source newsletter.

He is the former editor of Petroleum Economist and a frequent writer for The Economist. He has written for The Times, The Guardian and a range of other newspapers. He works as an advisor for Petroleum Policy Intelligence and is a frequent speaker at conferences and private briefings.

Derek has spent 15 years travelling in and out of the key oil-producing regions of the world, often focusing on resource-related conflict.
