James Lapushner's Biography
James Lapushner is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Anacott Capital, an FCA-authorized real estate merchant banking firm based in London. With a 27-year career spanning law, banking, private equity, and entrepreneurship, he has closed over £30 billion in transactions focused on value-add principal investing, debt/equity capital markets, and distressed restructurings. Notable achievements include winning the 2019 CoStar Investment Deal of the Year for Lloyds Chambers and the 2017 Real Estate Capital Financing Deal of the Year for St Giles Square.
Before launching Anacott in 2010, James was Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, heading German Real Estate Investing. There, he deployed €2 billion in equity, built Germany’s largest commercial real estate company with €12 billion in assets under management, and founded Argoneo, a 55-professional asset management firm. Earlier, at Credit Suisse First Boston (formerly DLJ), he led European Debt Origination, structuring over €10 billion in loans across Europe, the US, and Canada.
James started as a lawyer at Kaye Scholer in New York after earning his JD from Rutgers University School of Law (with honors) and BA in Economics from Cornell University. He studied European Law at Leiden University and holds FCA registration, along with retired New York and New Jersey Bar memberships. Fluent in Russian, with basic German and Spanish, he holds American, British, and German Indefinite Leave to Remain citizenships.
