Ollie Thorn's Biography

Ollie Thorn is a speaker and strategist who transforms adversity into insight. A training accident at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst left him paralysed from the chest down, ending his army career and confining him to six months of bedrest. Fuelled by a promise to “dream bigger,” he returned to elite sport, representing Great Britain in downhill sit-ski racing and completing a 70.3 Ironman less than a year after his first swimming lesson. With a pioneering adaptive expedition now in planning, he continues to push the boundaries of what spinal cord–injured athletes can achieve.

Translating high-performance lessons to business, Ollie has held leadership posts across people, culture and sales, founded a global disability network for PageGroup, and today steers Generation Valuable—the Valuable 500’s flagship programme pairing disabled talent with C-suite mentors at Coca-Cola, EY and other multinationals. His board role with Humanity & Inclusion UK extends his advocacy into the humanitarian arena, while advisory projects on five continents help organisations craft bold, inclusive cultures.

His lived experience of becoming disabled and rebuilding from ground zero drives his passion for mindset, resilience and psychological safety. Drawing on his background in high-performance sport, Ollie supports individuals and teams to perform under pressure, embrace change and reframe fear. A natural storyteller with infectious energy, he connects deeply with audiences across all sectors—creating galvanising moments of clarity, challenge and change.

Ollie came to Adobe to speak to our customers, what was inspiring is that not only was Ollie authentic in sharing his story but also spoke about wider disability inclusion to help inspire change within organisations and workplaces. Both the internal teams and audience loved how Ollie positioned his story alongside learnings for everyone to take away which created some great conversation after as well as personal ownership of their small part in a wider greater need for change. Ollie is approachable, very collaborative and I will look forward to the next time that we get to work together!
