James Caan's Biography

James Caan is a respected British entrepreneur and television personality known for appearing as an investor on the BBC show “Dragons’ Den” from 2007 to 2010. He is also the Chairman of the UK Government’s Start Up Loans Scheme and host of “The Business Class” on CNBC. As a speaker, he frequently shares his wealth of knowledge and expertise on a variety of topics related to entrepreneurship and business strategy.

James Caan began his career by founding the recruitment company Alexander Mann in 1987. Under his leadership, the company grew to become one of the leading recruitment companies in the UK. In 2002, he sold his interests in the company, which had a turnover of around £130m.

In 1993, he co-founded the executive headhunting firm Humana International with Doug Bugie. The company quickly expanded, opening 147 offices in 30 countries. In 1996, he launched the trade magazine Recruitment International, which he later sold in 2000. Additionally, he co-founded the business process outsourcing company AMS with Rosaleen Blair in 1996 and sold his interests in the company in 2002. He also sold Humana International to CDI International, a New York-listed company, in 1999 and a minority stake in Alexander Mann Group to private equity firm Advent International that same year
.
In 2004, he established the London-based private equity firm Hamilton Bradshaw, which specializes in Seed Capital and Growth Capital for recruitment businesses. He also founded Recruitment Entrepreneur in 2013, which provides seed funding and support for ambitious and experienced recruitment professionals to start or scale their recruitment ventures.

In 2009, he launched HBRIDA, a company that worked with SME recruitment agencies to help them achieve growth and led them to an exit. In 2010, he founded The Entrepreneurs Business Academy and became a non-Executive Director of McCann London.
