Ricky Gervais's Biography

Ricky Gervais is a comedian, actor, director, producer, writer, and household name worldwide who has been in the entertainment industry for over two decades. He is a highly experienced, sought-after public speaker who has given speeches worldwide on various topics, from creative processes to life lessons, all littered with plenty of humour.

As of 2022, Ricky has been involved in several film and television roles on-screen and behind the camera. He’s made numerous television appearances on shows, such as Galavant, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Louie, Sesame Street and Meet Ricky Gervais. His directing, creating and producing credentials include The Office UK and US, Extras, The Ricky Gervais Show, Life’s Too Short, Derek and After Life. Ricky has also lent his talents as a voice actor to several television shows, including Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?, BoJack Horseman, Family Guy, SpongeBob SquarePants and The Simpsons.
Ricky made his movie debut in 2001’s Dog Eat Dog. He has been featured in films, such as Night at the Museum trilogy, Ghost Town, For Your Consideration, and Stardust. As a voice actor, he lent talents to films such as Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank, The Little Prince, Escape from Planet Earth, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, and Valiant. He’s directed, written and produced movies such as David Brent: Life on the Road, Special Correspondents, Cemetery Junction and The Invention of Lying.

Ricky is perhaps best known for his stand-up specials, such as Animals, Politics, Fame, Science, Out of England 1 & 2, and three Netflix specials, Humanity, SuperNature and Armageddon. He’s featured in video games like Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009), Grand Theft Auto IV (2008) and Scarface: The World Is Yours (2006). He is a five-time host of the Golden Globes.

Ricky is also an accomplished author. He published a children’s book, Flanimals, in 2005, with sequels released in 2006, 2007 and 2010. He also released The Office: The Scripts Series 1 & 2 (2007) and The World of Karl Pilkington (2006).

Ricky has had an illustrious career filled with success. He’s won multiple awards, including seven BAFTA awards, five British Comedy Awards, three Golden Globe awards and two Primetime Emmy awards.

Although Ricky’s comedy often features controversial topics, his speaking engagements are highly sought after by global audiences who appreciate his unique brand of humour and insightful observations about life.
