Sara Davies's Biography

Sara Davies MBE is an entrepreneur, business leader, mentor and media personality.  Sara founded a highly acclaimed and successful retail business specialising in crafts while enrolled at University. Her keen sense of economics and business has made her a highly sought-after speaker who is beloved for her warm, engaging and informative nature.

Her books include ‘The Six-Minute Entrepreneur: 52 Short Lessons for Long-Term Business Success‘ (2025) and ‘We can all Make it” (2022)- her biography.

In 2005, while she was a student at the University of York, Sara founded Crafters Companion. This company provides innovative crafting products and solutions and acts as a place to learn new skills and seek inspiration. Today the multimillion-dollar company has two head offices and warehouses in England and the United States with more than 200 global employees.

One of her greatest passions is helping women in business, which is demonstrated through her involvement with the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, where she provides mentorship, guidance and advice. Sara joined the highly esteemed panel of investors on Dragons Den in 2019 as a ‘Dragon’, becoming the show’s youngest female investor. 

As no stranger to the media, Sara was a contestant on the nineteenth season of Strictly Come Dancing. She was the host of the television craft show Be Creative in 2015. Sara is also a regular on television shopping channels where she promotes and demonstrates the products offered by Crafters Companion.

In the 2016 New Year Honours, Sara was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her services to the economy. She is also the recipient of many business and entrepreneurship awards, including 2021’s Northern Power Women Award for Outstanding Entrepreneur, 2019’s NatWest Great British Entrepreneur of the Year (North East) and Lloyd Banks Outstanding Contribution Award.

In 2015, Startups.co.uk named her Young Guns Entrepreneur of the Year. She won the Creative Industries Entrepreneur of the Year at the Great British Entrepreneur Awards in 2014, and in 2013 she was awarded Young Female Entrepreneur of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year at the Stevie Women in Business Awards and Shell Women of the Future Awards, respectively. She was also awarded the prestigious Ernst & Young Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2010.
