Joanna Jensen's Biography
Joanna Jensen is the entrepreneur behind Childs Farm, the British multi-award-winning baby and child personal care brand she created in 2010 to help her daughters’ sensitive, eczema-prone skin. Launched into Boots and Waitrose in 2014, Childs Farm rose to number one in 2019, disrupting legacy players with natural, sustainable and joyfully fruity formulas—and helping reshape a category in which Johnson’s share fell markedly over five years.
Drawing on experience in investment banking in London and Hong Kong, Jensen turned an emotional need into a commercially rigorous brand from day one. In March 2022 she sold 92% of Childs Farm to PZ Cussons for £36.8m, selling the remainder in January 2025; the brand has continued to grow under new ownership. Childs Farm also became the first B Corp in UK baby and child personal care in 2022.
A leading advocate for female-founded businesses, Jensen is an angel investor in 11 female-led brands. She serves on the Angel Investing Committee for the Invest in Women Taskforce and the advisory board of consumer initiative Buy Women Built; she mentors founders through Imperial College’s Imperial Venture Mentoring Service (IVMS). She chairs the Enterprise Investment Scheme Association (EISA) and The Parallel Club, the philanthropic arm of ParalympicsGB.
A regular media voice and keynote, Jensen frequently contributes to The Sunday Times, The Times and City AM, City A.M., appears on Channel 5’s Jeremy Vine, and provides business commentary on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Wake Up To Money. In 2025 she speaks at global forums including World Retail Congress and Ideas Fest. Her book, Making Business Child’s Play: How to Build a Winning Brand (Sept 2025), distils the practical playbook for building standout consumer brands—equipping audiences with clear, actionable tools to de-risk decisions, accelerate growth and lead with purpose.
