Jake Davis's Biography

Jake Davis is a former teenage “hacktivist”,  best known by his pseudonym Topiary, for the collectives Anonymous and LulzSec, groups made famous for politically-motivated hacks against governments and large corporations, that once led to his arrest and prosecution.  After serving his time and staying off the Internet for two years, Jake Davis is now a security researcher, disclosing bugs to corporations as a part of their bounty programmes.    He is a highly engaging keynote speaker on cyber security and hacking.

An experienced consultant, writer and speaker, Jake is an expert on hackers and hacker culture and aims to bring these subjects to mainstream audiences in unique and engaging ways, with a focus on educating and empowering the next generation of hackers and security experts, and helping the average user stay safe online.

He also offers creative consultancy and has worked on everything from TV and theatre to children’s books and espionage museums, collaborating with directors, writers, contemporary dancers, entrepreneurs, designers, and many others.

Jake Davis has given talks and presentations across the world about hacking, security, and digital privacy, for corporate clients, conferences, festivals, and a wide range of media, including documentaries and podcasts. He was a Cyber consultant to the Production team filming the hit drama “McMafia” and has talked in front of a vast range of audiences from the European Central Bank, to small Roundtable discussions at Board level.
