Nerina Ramlakhan's Biography

Dr Nerina Ramlakhan is a professional physiologist, sleep expert, author and keynote speaker with over 25 years of experience. She spent a decade conducting sleep and wellness programmes at Nightingale Hospital in London, coaches on burnout prevention at Ashridge Business School and is the original founder of BUPA’s Corporate Wellbeing Solutions.

Nerina works with individuals as well as numerous corporate clients from various industries including sport (Chelsea Football Club).  She is particularly interested in how, post-pandemic, organisations and individuals can thrive rather than merely survive.  Her recently published 4th book Finding Inner Safety (Capstone, 2022) suggests that an important way forward in these volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) times is to tap into our deepest sources of resilience and inner safety.  Many of her keynotes and presentations are focused on showing organisations and individuals how to do this.

Nerina is the author of three other books: Tired But Wired (Souvenir Press, 2010), Fast Asleep, Wide Awake (Thorsons, 2016), and The Little Book of Sleep: The Art of Natural Sleep (Gaia, 2018).   Her work has been featured in The Times, Telegraph, Guardian, New Scientist, Psychologies, Red and Healthy Living magazines and she has appeared on numerous national TV and radio programmes including This Morning, Jamie and Jimmy’s Friday Night Feast, Sky News and BBC Radio 2.  Dr Nerina is also a Stylist editorial contributor and gives her expert opinion for the Stylist Sleep Diaries, an ongoing weekly feature where readers can record their routines and receive her expert advice on their lifestyle and bedtime routines.

Working with household brands such as Audible, No7, Fitbit and Kalms, Dr Nerina is regularly sought out to offer her expertise and add kudos to a new product launch or brand. Her work can be found across all mediums from social media and TV and Radio to National Newspapers and academic journals; her advice is actionable, accessible and relevant to all.

As a former insomniac, Nerina combines her professional experience with academic and personal insights, and believes sleep problems are not simply about sleep, but rather about how we deal with life and its inevitable challenges.

Nerina enjoys yoga, meditation, running and cycling and has completed 7 marathons and several triathlons. She’s a wild swimmer and is often found in the Thames. She has a seventeen-year-old daughter and lives in London.

Comments & Testimonials

Dr Nerina has been an inspiration to me and my teams. Her calm and professional approach coupled with excellent practical advice is just what a high energy team like ours at Cisco really needs. The sessions she ran all round the UK and Ireland helped teams really focus on what was important for a sustainable and healthy team, life and business. I think many of us are now feeling significantly less tired and maybe even slightly better wired!
