Krishnan Guru-Murthy's Biography

Krishnan Guru-Murthy is the distinguished anchorman for Channel 4 News and the presenter of Unreported World, an acclaimed documentary series.

As a news presenter Krishnan has covered some of the top stories of the last decade as well as bringing to our attention topical issues through his documentaries. Krishnan mediated the well-received pre-election debate in 2010 called ‘Ask the Chancellors’. He is the second longest serving news presenter at Channel 4 having joined aged 28. Prior to joining Channel 4, Krishnan worked for the BBC on Newsnight and Newsround.

He joined Channel 4 News in 1998, aged 28, and is the second longest serving presenter after Jon Snow. Between 2003 and 2009 he was also the main presenter of Channel 4 News at Noon. He has reported and presented from around the world covering many disasters, conflicts and political movements, such as the Arab Spring in Egypt. He received nominations for the News Presenter of the Year Award in the Royal Television Society Journalism Awards in 2010 and 2014 and in 2015/16 Interview of the year for an interview with the Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn in which the politician lost his temper under questioning about his past statements on Hamas and Hezbollah.

Krishnan’s ability to get to the centre of an issue has seen him interview a number of high-calibre individuals about sensitive topics, including one with Quentin Tarantino about the link between violence in movies and high school massacres.
