Yu Yongding's Biography

Professor Yu Yongding is widely regarded as one of China’s leading monetary economists. He is a professor at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

He is the former president of the China Society of World Economics and the former director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He served on the Monetary Policy Committee of the People’s Bank of China from 2004 to 2006.

He graduated from the Beijing School of Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 1969, received an MA in Economics from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 1986, and earned a D.Phil. in Economics from the University of Oxford in 1994.

He has authored, co-authored and edited more than ten books, and has published numerous papers and articles on macroeconomics, international economics and related subjects in academic journals and newspapers. He is a recipient of the Sun Yefang Prize in Economics.
