Sidney Toledano's Biography

Sidney Toledano made his name as a marketing consultant for Nielsen International before joining Kickers as general secretary in 1982. By 1984 he had risen to take the position of MD at Lancel where his careful eye oversaw product development, resulting in a great boost in sales.

In 1994 he joined Christian Dior as director of leather goods, where he again delivered success launching the now famous “Lady Dior” bag before being promoted to Dior’s International Development division in 1996. In 1998 he was appointed as President and CEO of the group. His tenure has seen Dior profitably diversify its range into fine jewellery and the successful Dior Homme mens range. Sidney has also grown Dior’s international network of retail boutiques from a mere six in 1994 to over two hundred locations today.

Sidney’s widely recognised expertise has seen him appointed to the boards of Fendi International and John Galliano. He is also a board member of Comité Colbert (where he is also President of the Public Authorities Commission) and the French Fashion institute. He is a management committee member of the the influential Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, which has the powers to define which designers meet the rigorous standards of Haute Couture.

In 2005, Sidney was named a Knight of the French Legion of Honor and in 2011 an Officer of the French National order of Merit. He also holds decorations from King Mohammed VI of Morocco.
