Shona Beats's Biography

Shona Beats teaches leaders what meditation taught Silicon Valley: wisdom is your competitive advantage in the age of AI.

At 30, she was signed off work with burnout and chronic anxiety. She found her way through meditation – and within months had joined Headspace as Employee #2 and COO. Over six years, she built the product, business, and team from the ground up, navigating hypergrowth, multiple funding rounds, and the relocation to Silicon Beach. Headspace made meditation mainstream and has since reached 100M+ users in 190+ countries.

Grounded in 5,000+ hours of contemplative practice and nearly two decades studying elite performance and leadership, Shona offers a way into what McKinsey calls wisdom – the judgment, discernment, and inner clarity that AI can’t replicate.

The Wisdom Advantage explores practices that can help leaders process complexity, make high-stakes decisions, and lead with composure under pressure – the inner work that creates competitive edge in the AI era.

Today, Shona is a keynote speaker and executive coach specialising in transformational leadership development for CEOs, founders, and C-suite executives. She serves on the boards of consciousness technology companies Lumenate and Dharma Dr.

Shona Beats's Speaking Topics

  • The Wisdom Advantage : How to lead when everyone has AI

AI has democratised intelligence. Every leader now has instant access to the same data, the same analysis, the same strategic frameworks. The playing field has been leveled - and that changes everything. When everyone can ask ChatGPT, competitive advantage shifts from what you know to how you think. The question moves from what to do to how to be. From information access to insight. From speed to soundness. From output to composure. The challenge isn't learning to use AI - it's learning to stay human in an AI world. To make high-stakes decisions with clarity, not just data. To discern signal from noise when everything is amplified. To lead with ethical grounding when convenience is always an option. Drawing on her experience scaling Headspace and working with hundreds of executives navigating transformation, Shona Beats offers a way in: practices that develop judgment, discernment, and inner clarity. How to access deeper insight under pressure. How to lead from composure rather than reactivity. The inner work that creates outer competitive edge. The age of information is over. Welcome to the age of wisdom.

Comments & Testimonials

"Shona's keynote cut through all of it. She made the case for why intuition and embodied wisdom are the actual competitive advantages in the AI era - not as soft skills, but as business imperatives. Shona is quietly and brilliantly paving the way for a new leadership movement."
Victoria Stoyanova Head of Experience HUWD, ex-Meta & Google
"The stat that hit me: we're only truly conscious 5% of the day. The rest? Autopilot. Shona's visualisation of my future self was so powerful I have already referenced it repeatedly in hard decisions. She doesn't just inspire you, she gives you actual tools to navigate a tech-driven world with more intention. Her story is incredible, but what surprised me most was how relatable she made it. This is practical wisdom that sticks."
Andrew Hunt Co-Founder, Inquisitive Traveller Group
"Shona is the embodiment of present, humble leadership. She creates immediate impact in any room she enters. She equips leaders with practical tools that can be integrated within a single keynote and carried forward long after. I highly recommend Shona as a keynote speaker - her presence, authenticity, and leadership are deeply felt and truly transformative."
Alicia Dunams Author of How to Talk to Your Enemies
“It was an honor to invite Shona to join one of my world-renowned Jeffersonian Dinners in San Francisco. Her presence was vital for our discussion and her enlightening insights and original expertise were greatly appreciated by the distinguished audience.”
