Sarah Roberts's Biography

Sarah Roberts is fearless environmental journalist, presenter, author and adventurer exploring our relationship with wildlife. She began her career in animal behaviour and now focuses on the front lines of human-wildlife conflict. Backed by a first-class biological sciences degree in Animal Behaviour and over five years’ fieldwork with some of the planet’s most dangerous species, she blends scientific insight with gripping, real-world stories.

Sarah is currently in production on a major film about trophy hunting in Africa, using a journalistic lens to explore the blurred lines between right and wrong in conservation. Her work has taken her from grizzly bear guiding on remote Canadian coastlines to documenting climate change technologies in Iceland, as well as reporting on shark fishing and tiger hunting. This breadth of experience gives her a rare, ground-level view of how human choices shape ecosystems worldwide.

Known for her witty, engaging and youthful style, she makes complex environmental issues relatable for new and younger audiences. She co-hosts That’s Just Wild, an adventurous nature podcast with biologist Lizzie Daly and TV naturalist Steve Backshall, and has fronted a six-part podcast series examining the future of the British uplands.

After being bitten by a lemon shark, Sarah turned the encounter into her debut children’s book Somebody Swallowed Stanley, later read to a national audience by Tom Hardy on CBeebies. She has since written further books connecting young people to climate, wildlife and sustainability, including Something Crunched Colin, a powerful story about plastic pollution, and Somebody Woke Wilson, an introduction to climate change and what we can do to solve it.

In 2014 Sarah launched Creature, an environmental outreach project bringing these stories into classrooms across the UK and abroad. Driven by a passion for human impact on wildlife, overlooked and sometimes controversial subjects, and the positive potential of new technologies, she equips audiences to confront uncomfortable truths while imagining hopeful, practical paths forward for the planet.

She founded Creature in 2014 to take these stories into classrooms in the UK and abroad, equipping organisations to engage people on sustainability with honesty, hope and practical pathways forward.
