Sam Gyimah Keynote Speaker

Sam Gyimah is a former UK Member of Parliament, senior government minister, and investment banker. His career spans business and politics, and he is now CEO and Founder of SG& Capital Partners, a merchant bank operating where markets and policy converge. He also serves on the Boards of Goldman Sachs International and the Cambridge University Endowment.

Alongside his work at SG& Capital Partners, which he founded in 2020, Sam advises global financial institutions and entrepreneurs on strategy, risk and the implications of political and policy change for business.

He is the host of The Geopolitics of Business podcast, where he interviews CEOs, investors and political leaders to explore what happens when business and politics collide – and how leaders respond.

Sam was the Member of Parliament for East Surrey from 2010–2019. Over his ten years in Parliament, eight of them as a minister, he served in several departments including the Cabinet Office, and as Minister for Higher Education, Science, Innovation and Technology with responsibility for an £8bn R&D budget. He was Parliamentary Private Secretary to Prime Minister David Cameron and attended Cabinet.

Sam began his career in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs in London, working on pan-European corporate finance and M&A advisory transactions, before joining the Equities business focusing on equity sales and institutional client relationships. Before entering politics, he was also an angel investor in early-stage businesses.

Born in the UK and raised in Ghana, Sam earned an MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University in 1999, where he was elected President of the Oxford Union Society, the world’s largest debating society.
