Princess Found: You Are More Than Your Title

Raised in West Virginia by her adopted parents, Sarah Culberson had little knowledge of her ancestry. She grew up in a loving, white household but carried questions about her identity and biracial roots that eventually led her to hire a private investigator in 2004. What she discovered would forever change her life: she was related to African royalty. Her biological grandfather is the Paramount Chief of a village in Sierra Leone, West Africa, and Sarah is considered a Mahaloi—with the status of a princess.

In this heartfelt and inspiring keynote, Princess Sarah takes audiences on her journey from princess to humanitarian, reminding us that everyone must earn their title—whether as a mother, a company leader, or a new team member. Titles alone don’t define success; our actions and values do. In Fear to Fabulous, Sarah Culberson explores how she achieved her dream of connecting with her biological family—an experience that transformed the trajectory of her life for the better. What began with the fear of rejection became a journey of discovery, belonging, and purpose. By stepping into the unknown, Sarah met her family, connected with her tribe, and embraced a new responsibility to uplift those with limited visibility and opportunity.

Discovering her heritage revealed a calling that now drives her humanitarian work. As co-founder of Sierra Leone Rising, she partners with local leaders to advance education, infrastructure, public health, and female empowerment throughout Sierra Leone. With both a BFA and MFA in theater, Sarah has mastered the art of communication and uses her voice to advocate for diversity, equity, and self-discovery.
