Nick Timothy's Biography

Nick Timothy is a British political adviser who acted as joint Chief of Staff to Prime Minister Theresa May.

Nick has been active in British politics since joining the Conservative Research Department in 2001, giving him a frontline view of its rapidly changing landscape. As a special adviser to Theresa May since 2010, he knows the intricate workings of British government and is widely regarded as one of the Conservative Party’s brightest policy thinkers.

Shortly after David Cameron’s resignation in the wake of the 2016 referendum, Timothy ran Theresa May’s campaign team and was appointed as her joint chief of staff in July 2016. During May’s first year in office, he was instrumental in setting policy and oversaw all governmental departments. Named as one of the two ‘Powerbrokers of Brexit’ by the Financial Times, Nick was also influential in forming the UK’s Brexit negotiation stance.

Since leaving government following the 2017 General Election, Nick is writing a weekly column for The Daily Telegraph and The Sun newspapers.
