Nagy Hanna's Biography
Nagy Hanna is one of the world’s leading experts on how organisations, including nations, governments and business – can achieve development goals through technological transformation.
Having served at the World Bank as Senior Adviser on Digital Transformation and Lead Corporate Strategist from 1985-2005, he is highly experienced in advising countries and aid agencies on programmes to promote innovation and the ICT sector, and to leverage ICT in support of sustainable growth and shared prosperity.
Now an independent adviser and also senior adviser to the US Department of State, Nagy continues to help countries develop policies, institutions, leadership and governance models for innovation and digital transformation. He mobilises leaders to rethink the future and pursue open, smart, and inclusive development: smart cities, smart health, smart education and smart business development services.
A prolific author, Nagy’s 2016 book is ‘Mastering Digital Transformation: Towards a Smarter Society, Economy, City and Nation‘.
Nagy’s other past roles include: founding member of the Global Forum on “Digital Dividends for All”; founder and first chair of the World Bank’s global community of practice on digital economy; visiting professor, Wits University, South Africa; board member and senior fellow of several policy think tanks; member of editorial boards, and member of several World Bank and UN expert forums.
