Murray Eldridge's Biography

Murray Eldridge is a Chartered Director and has been a member of the Institute of Directors for over 12 years. He has forty years of international experience in shipping, oil & gas, telecoms, consulting and water. A board level operator for the last 20 years, Murray has held Marketing & Sales, Strategy, Commercial, Managing Director and Non-Executive roles with companies such as Smit International, Cable & Wireless and Global Crossing.

In 1990 he joined British Telecom and moved to Singapore in 1994 as Regional Director, Asia Pacific. In 1997 Murray moved to China as MD of a Cable & Wireless key strategic joint venture with China Telecom where he secured the prestigious Magnolia Award from the government. He returned to the UK as Commercial Director for Global Marine Systems Ltd, the US$1billion global market leader in the installation and maintenance of trans-oceanic fibre optic cable systems. He chaired both the Capital Expenditure and Risk committees during this period.

Following the successful sale of Global Marine in 2004, Murray set up his own consultancy company. His work on infrastructure opportunities for a private equity group led to the establishment of a specialist desalination company in which he remains a shareholder. As a consultant he has worked with Philips, Coca Cola, T-Mobile, Alcatel, Anglo-American, among many others encompassing start-ups through to global market leaders. His executive experience includes three major sector crashes in three different industries.

He is also a British Rowing qualified and practising coach and the author of  “Leading High Performance” (Crimson, 2014), which takes elements of sports coaching that are relevant to business and shows how the principles of coaching, sports science, training and even psychology offer tremendous opportunities for achieving high performance in all organisations.
