Leo Feler's Biography

Leo Feler, Ph.D., is Chief Economist at Numerator, a consumer research firm, and Visiting Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Leo regularly briefs c-suite executives of Fortune 500 companies on the state of the US consumer and implications of policy changes on consumer behavior and the US economy.

Together with economists at the Federal Reserve, Leo developed a “Better Way of Understanding the US Consumer.” Leo’s research focuses on understanding how consumers react to changing economic conditions, how consumers perceive the economy, and how their perceptions often differ from reality, using a representative panel of 150,000 US households to track what consumers say and do in real-time.

Leo is featured regularly in popular media such as The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Time Magazine, CNN, PBS NewsHour, NBC News, and CBS News.  Leo has been a keynote speaker at several conferences around the world, including presentations with the Food Industry Association, World50, Unilever, Hershey, Coca-Cola, Post Consumer Brands, Reynolds Consumer Products, and many other consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies.
