Kay Crewdson's Biography

Kay Crewdson is a broadcast journalist, meteorologist and event host who brings clarity, warmth and authority to complex stories. Across BBC television and radio, she has built a reputation for calm communication under pressure and for connecting instantly with audiences.

Kay has been a weather presenter since 2010, covering various regions and counties in the North of England. From 2019 until 2025, Kay delivered the weather on BBC North West Tonight while fronting the channel’s ‘25 in 25’ series, travelling across the North West of England to meet the people and communities behind the forecast. The series became a celebration of local resilience and a reminder that powerful stories are often hiding in plain sight.

Kay is also known for fearless, human-centred storytelling. She has extensive radio experience, previously presenting BBC Radio York’s breakfast show. In June 2018, she researched and presented The Emptiness Within, a documentary broadcast on BBC Radio York and BBC Radio Sheffield that confronted the realities of miscarriage with honesty, expert insight and compassion. The programme received international recognition, including a New York Festivals Radio Awards Silver trophy.

Alongside her broadcasting work, Kay is Media Director and a Trustee of CRADLE, the UK charity supporting anyone affected by early pregnancy loss, helping to improve care and amplify the voices of bereaved parents. She also speaks candidly about topics many avoid, including baby loss and insomnia, turning personal experience into practical, audience-ready insight.

On stage, Kay combines a broadcaster’s poise with a storyteller’s empathy, helping organisations create cultures where difficult conversations are handled with confidence and care.
