Kate Silverton's Biography

Kate Silverton is a highly accomplished, versatile journalist and popular presenter of BBC news, current affairs and entertainment programmes. She has won plaudits for her reporting from Iraq, and is no stranger to conflict, having covered several of the world’s troubled and beleaguered regions, including reporting from the front line in Afghanistan.

Kate regularly anchors the One O’clock, Six O’clock and Ten O’clock news for BBC One and has presented her own weekly radio show for BBC Five Live, debating the week’s topical News stories with expert guests and politicians.

In 2012, Kate secured an exclusive interview with His Royal Highness, The Duke of Cambridge who gave her a rare and extremely candid interview about his anger over the current levels of rhino poaching in Africa. Her documentary drew support and praise from the United Nations teams.

Kate is an extremely versatile presenter too – hosting and appearing in an eclectic range of programmes including ‘The Speaker’ – a debate show for young teenagers,  World War Two programme ‘My Family at War’ and ‘Propertywatch’?, a four part series ,which took the temperature of the housing market in the UK. A keen sportswoman, Kate has also presented various events at the Olympic Games with a focus on the Marathon and Road Races.

Kate is an active supporter of a number of charities including TUSK, Kids Company and has twice taken part in the London Triathlon to raise money for SPARKS childrens’ charity.
