Clive Anderson's Biography

Clive Anderson spent nearly 15 years as a practising barrister, and at the same time began stand-up comedy and script writing for Frankie Howerd, Griff Rhys Jones and Mel Smith amongst others. Since retiring from law he has become a presenter and comedy writer and won the British Comedy Award in 1991.

Clive rose to fame in the 1980s as the host of ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’, first on BBC Radio 4 then on Channel 4 TV. Clive went on to front ten series of his own show, ‘Clive Anderson Talks Back’ on Channel 4 and four series of ‘Clive Anderson All Talk ‘on BBC 1. As well as presenting several other TV and radio programmes, he has made many guest appearances on shows such as ‘Have I Got News For You’, ‘QI’ and ‘Mock the Week’.

He has presented a number of hour-long biographies of major figures including Jeffrey Archer and Jesus Christ, as well as documentaries on subjects ranging from justice in the Amazon to the history of Wikipedia. Clive currently hosts ‘Clive Anderson’s Chat Room’ on Radio 2, ‘Loose Ends’; Radio 4’s long running entertainment programme on Saturdays and ‘Unreliable Evidence’, in which he discusses legal issues with major figures from the world of the law.
