Clara Durodié's Biography
Clara Durodié is an internationally recognised technology strategist specialising in the business, risks and geopolitics of artificial intelligence (AI) in financial services.
Clara is internationally recognised for her expertise, advising the boards of leading financial institutions, think tanks, governments and academic organisations. She also mentors AI start-ups on governance, funding and growth strategy. She has consistently been named on numerous global lists of leading women in fintech and served as Chair of the Non-Executive Directors Board’s Special Committee on Best Practice for AI Adoption in the UK. She was also a member of the IEEE Global Initiative on Ethics of Autonomous and Intelligent Systems in the United States.
Clara has advised leading think tanks, the UK All-Party Parliamentary Group on Artificial Intelligence and the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications’ Special Commission on Artificial Intelligence. In June 2017, she was invited to become a member of the European Union Artificial Intelligence Alliance.
Clara is a frequent presenter at leading conferences around the world, including Sibos, Money20/20, Point Zero Forum, Singapore FinTech Festival, Innovate Finance Global Summit and AI World. She has also spoken at London Business School, addressing an audience from leading universities including Harvard, Stanford, MIT and Cambridge.
She has been invited to serve as a guest lecturer at leading universities, including the University of Oxford’s Executive MBA programme, London Business School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Clara was also invited to teach on the inaugural Oxford Artificial Intelligence course organised by the University of Oxford.
Clara is the author of the highly acclaimed Decoding AI in Financial Services: Business Implications for Boards and Professionals, the first guidebook on AI in financial services written for C-suite executives, board members and decision-makers. The Japanese translation was published in Japan in 2022, and the book’s second edition was published in London in 2024.
Clara also writes Decoding AI® Briefing, a popular digital publication examining the business, governance and geopolitics of AI in financial services. Since its launch in 2016, it has remained a pre-eminent and objective source of information on the subject.
Her academic research interests lie at the intersection of neuroscience, artificial intelligence and investment management. Before 2014, Clara held leadership roles in European asset and wealth management. She is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors in the United States and the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment in the United Kingdom. She holds a Certificate in Investment Management and a master’s degree from the University of Oxford.
