Adrian Joseph's Biography

Adrian Joseph OBE is one of the UK’s leading authorities on artificial intelligence, data and digital transformation. A highly respected technology executive, board adviser and keynote speaker, he helps organisations unlock commercial value from AI while navigating governance, regulation and responsible innovation.

Most recently, Adrian served as Chief Data and AI Officer at BT Group, where he led a team of approximately 1,600 specialists responsible for data, artificial intelligence and cloud capabilities across one of the UK’s largest telecommunications companies. Prior to BT, he spent more than a decade in senior leadership roles at Google before becoming a Senior Partner at EY, where he led the UK Financial Services Data and Analytics practice.

Alongside his executive career, Adrian advises boards and leadership teams on AI strategy, digital transformation and technology governance. He currently serves as a Non-Executive Director at Allwyn UK, Direct Line Insurance Group and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust, and sits on the Technology Advisory Board of NatWest Group. He also served as an Expert Member of the UK Government’s AI Council, contributing to the UK’s National AI Strategy, and was previously a Non-Executive Director at the Home Office.

A passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion in technology, Adrian was awarded an OBE in the 2019 New Year Honours for services to equality and diversity in business. He has also been recognised by the Financial Times and Inclusive Boards as the UK’s most influential Black, Asian and ethnic minority technology leader.
