Ciara Doherty's Biography

Ciara Doherty is an accomplished broadcaster with more than 20 years’ experience across television, radio and live events. A qualified Barrister-at-Law, she brings authority, intelligence and natural ease to every platform she works across.

Ciara is a familiar voice on Newstalk, where she hosts the daily podcast Newstalk Daily. She is uniquely positioned as one of the few national broadcasters to have anchored both of Virgin Media Television’s flagship programmes — Ireland AM and The Tonight Show — where she led live national debates and high-stakes interviews on the issues defining the country.

Moving seamlessly between formats, Ciara has demonstrated her ability to handle everything from breaking news and political scrutiny to lifestyle, culture and human-interest storytelling.

Beyond broadcasting, Ciara is an experienced MC and moderator, regularly hosting conferences, corporate events and live panel discussions. Known for her meticulous preparation, sharp questioning and warm, assured presence, she brings credibility and polish to every stage. Selected MC and moderator experience includes flagship events for Microsoft Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, IBEC, Goodbody, The Gloss, Repak and PRII. She has also participated in panels focused on promoting women in business and leadership.

Ciara studied Law at UCD before completing a postgraduate degree in Broadcast Journalism in London. After working with ITV on programmes including the Pride of Britain Awards, she joined Newstalk Breakfast in 2006. In 2016, she qualified as a Barrister-at-Law.
