Tina Stowell's Biography

Baroness Tina Stowell is a highly respected political leader, adviser and keynote speaker who helps audiences navigate disruption, rebuild trust, and deliver results in complex environments. With a career spanning government, Parliament and broadcasting, she is known for bringing unlikely people together to achieve outcomes that stand up to scrutiny.

A life peer since January 2011, Tina has held senior ministerial roles including Leader of the House of Lords and Lord Privy Seal (2014-2016). She led the landmark Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act through the House of Lords, and her public service has been recognised with an MBE (1996) and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Nottingham (2016).

Tina served as Chair of the Charity Commission (2018-2021), and co-chaired the Joint Select Committee whose recommendations on the restoration and repair of the Palace of Westminster were accepted by Parliament in February 2018. Alongside her work in parliament, she is a Social Mobility Commissioner and recently sat  on the boards of ABTA Ltd and Impellam Group plc.

As Chair of the House of Lords Communications and Digital Committee (2022-2025), Tina led cross-party scrutiny of the tech, media and creative industries – work that included reports on Large Language Models (LLMs), AI-driven scaleups, digital inclusion, the economic impact of the creative industries, and the news industry’s future. She also publishes and convenes conversations beyond Westminster, including her podcast series “Tina talks to… Today’s Britons” and policy work on social and educational divides.
