Rohit Kachroo's Biography

Rohit Kachroo is an award-winning international journalist renowned for his compelling reporting and in-depth investigative work. His reporting experience covering the wars in Ukraine, Gaza, and Yemen, alongside his analytical rigour make him a leading voice on global security.  Serving as the Global Security Editor for ITV News, he has been at the forefront of numerous high-profile stories, developing a reputation for his ability to investigate global trends, and illuminate the human impact of international events. He combines frontline reporting from some of the most challenging environments with deep investigations from the UK and around the world.

Kachroo’s storytelling has earned him multiple accolades, including two awards from the prestigious Royal Television Society (RTS) and, in 2023, an award from the One World Media Award.

Between 2015 and 2020 he was at the forefront of coverage of the rise and fall of Islamic State group (ISIS), conducting the final interviews with ‘The Beatles’ execution cell, and travelling to Syria and around the world to profile their victims.

In addition to his role at ITV News, Kachroo previously served as Africa Correspondent for NBC News, where he broke news of the death of Nelson Mandela for NBC Nightly News. He also covered the famine in East Africa and reported extensively on the trial of Oscar Pistorius for The Today Show.

Kachroo continues to focus on emerging extremist trends around the world, and reports on the way the culture war is distorting public discourse.

The Gaza conflict affects global discourse, especially among younger generations influenced by digital activism. Journalists navigate contested narratives in a world where emotional and human stakes are high. Rohit discusses the way the conflict feels local - personal - to so many people, so far away.

  • Reporting in a World Where Truth Is Out of Fashion

In a time of rampant misinformation, journalists struggle to report truth amid propaganda and bias. A shift is occurring where marginalised voices now demand to be heard in global narratives. Rohit describes a future where facts are out of fashion.

  • The Lessons of ISIS: Understanding the Rise and Appeal of Extremism

ISIS’s rise teaches critical lessons about the exploitation of grievances, identity crises, and digital propaganda. Misunderstood by many, the group’s global appeal reveals the failure of institutions to address these dynamics.
