Lara Lewington's Biography

Lara Lewington is a leading technology broadcaster, journalist and author specialising in artificial intelligence, future health and the technologies transforming how we live.

For fifteen years, Lara presented the BBC’s flagship technology programme Click, reporting from around the world on breakthrough innovations and translating complex technological developments for mainstream audiences. She has since fronted Panorama: Beyond Human – Artificial Intelligence and Us, examining the extraordinary possibilities and profound questions raised by advances in artificial intelligence.

Her critically acclaimed book, Hacking Humanity (Penguin, 2025), explores the coming revolution in healthcare and the ways AI, data and cutting-edge science could enable us to understand, track and predict our bodies’ needs as never before. Drawing on research and encounters with leading scientists, doctors and innovators, Lara examines how technology could transform prevention, diagnosis and treatment, helping us to close the gap between lifespan and “healthspan”.

Lara has also produced and presented a number of documentaries exploring health, ageing and longevity. Her work takes her to the frontline of scientific innovation, investigating everything from wearable technology and personalised medicine to AI-assisted diagnosis and the emerging science of healthy ageing.

Alongside her documentary work, Lara is a familiar voice across television and radio. She has hosted technology and health specials for ITV’s Tonight and BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, and as ITV Lorraine’s resident “AI Agony Aunt”, she has helped audiences understand the opportunities, limitations and real-world implications of artificial intelligence.

Before joining Click in 2011, Lara began her broadcasting career at Channel Five, where she worked as a weather presenter and showbusiness reporter while also covering consumer technology. She later spent four years as technology columnist for Woman magazine and has written extensively about technology, health and innovation.

As a keynote speaker, moderator and conference host, Lara combines deep knowledge of emerging technology with the accessibility of an experienced broadcaster. She helps audiences look beyond the hype to understand where AI and health technology are genuinely heading, what they mean for individuals and organisations, and how we can make better decisions in a world of accelerating innovation.
