Joseph Gagnon's Biography

Joseph Gagnon served on the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve as associate director for the Division of Monetary Affairs from 2008 to 2009. Prior to this he worked on the Board as associate director for the Division of International Finance (1999-2008), and as a senior economist (1987-97).

Joseph also served at the US Treasury Department as director of the Office of East Asian Nations (1999), and as the director of the Office of Industrial Nations and Global Analyses (1997-99). Since 2009, he has been a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, where he specialises in international finance, international trade, and macroeconomics.
