Joe Stringer's Biography
Joe Stringer has over 24 years of experience in health technology, covering technology deployment and management consulting across healthcare systems around the world. Today, he is Executive Chair at Automata and an Advisory Board Member for Wellness Solutions and AI at Holland & Barrett. He also holds multiple advisory roles at businesses including Mettle, SymbioTex and AdviceInc, among others. He has founded several successful businesses in the sector and is now an early-stage healthtech investor.
Joe previously led the healthtech team at Octopus Ventures, one of Europe’s most active venture capital firms, with a vision to improve over a billion lives by backing category-defining healthtech companies. A firm believer in accessible and affordable healthcare for all, Joe is an active advocate for tackling healthcare through longevity and wellbeing, including in public health. He also served for six years as a Trustee of the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH).
Prior to Octopus Ventures, Joe was Market Leader for Google Health in EMEA and led the Ventures and Healthcare practices for EY in the UK. He is a proactive advocate for impact investing and the significant role that risk capital can play in developing affordable and accessible healthcare systems around the world, irrespective of how they are funded. He has contributed to a number of thought leadership reports on healthtech and is a contributor to the book Resilient Health: Leveraging Technology and Social Innovations to Transform Healthcare for COVID-19 Recovery and Beyond.
