Georgina Godwin's Biography
Georgina Godwin (Hon) FRSL is a highly accomplished and widely experienced independent broadcast journalist.
She is the regular anchor of current affairs programmes *The Globalist* and *The Briefing* on Monocle Radio. These live geopolitical shows go behind the headlines, exploring stories for an international audience. Georgina makes story suggestions, writes the scripts and conducts the interviews.
A regular chair of literary events worldwide, she is also Books Editor for Monocle Radio and presenter of the in-depth interview show *Meet the Writers*, a warm, intimate, one-on-one half-hour programme featuring authors.
She presents *Monocle on Saturday* with gentle wit and a sense of fun, comprising lighter stories and a global press review.
Georgina has interviewed a wide range of public figures, from literary giants and debut novelists to prominent politicians, musicians and artists.
Georgina has been a contributor to Al Jazeera, Sky News, Channel 4 News, BBC News, *Newsnight*, Channel 5, LBC and others, speaking on Southern African politics. She is a regular panellist on *Weekend* on the BBC World Service and has appeared on *Broadcasting House* and *Great Lives*, where her choice was Dag Hammarskjöld.
Born in Zimbabwe and educated there and at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, she was a lead presenter on the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation, then a founder member of SW Radio Africa and the Harare International Festival of the Arts.
She serves on the board of the charity English PEN.
Georgina has judged many literary prizes, including the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction, the Caine Prize for African Writing, the British Book Awards and the Ockham New Zealand Book Awards.
