Chen Wu's Biography
Chen Wu is a business writer, thought leader, innovative team leader, frequent speaker, and skilled moderator. He served as Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of The Economist Business Review from 2014 to 2024, where he helped launch and grow the first Chinese-language app of The Economist. Prior to that, he was the editor of CFO China magazine and worked for BusinessWeek in Hong Kong and Bloomberg News in Singapore.
He possesses a strong understanding of global development trends, technological disruptions, business cases, and organisational transformations. His research interests include strategic thinking, innovation, international expansion, and topics such as climate change, carbon neutrality, ESG, corporate social responsibility, and cross-cultural communication.
Mr. Wu is an experienced team leader, having managed reporters, translators, researchers, and conference staff, with a focus on developing and supporting emerging talent.
He has published eight business books. His works include 2049—Possibilities in the Next 10,000 Days (2025), co-authored with Kevin Kelly – this book was a best-seller in China in 2025.
Other books include the “Great Transformation Era” trilogy: Undercurrent: Ripples, Turbulence, and Trends (2022), Breakthrough: Exploration and Innovation in an Unknown Era (2023), and Reshaping: Entrepreneurial Spirit, Common Sense Innovation, and New Management Thinking (2024); the “Roaring Twenties” trilogy: Fusion: Cutting-edge Thinking on Business and Technology (2019), Transformational Thinking: How to Adapt Quickly in the Digital Economy Era (2020), and Beyond VUCA: Long-term Thinking in an Era of Uncertainty (2022); as well as Business Scenarios: Methodology for the Evolution of Future Business (2022).
In recognition of his achievements in financial media, he received the Asian Financial News Annual Award from IE Business School in 2021.
