Ian King has been a journalist on television and national newspapers and for more than thirty years. He is a contributor to CNBC International, for whom he writes a weekly newsletter, CNBC UK Exchange with Ian King. He is also a regular columnist for The Times and a commentator for Times Radio.

Until April 2025 he was business presenter for Sky News, hosting more than two thousand live editions of the channel’s flagship business programme Business Live. Quizzing the biggest names in business, finance and economics; holding politicians, regulators and business leaders to account. During his time with Sky News, Ian interviewed two-thirds of FTSE-100 chief executives, three Bank of England governors, half a dozen Chancellors of the Exchequer and Prime Ministers from around the world.

Renowned for his incisive interviews and acute analysis, Ian’s expertise ensured his coverage was relevant to the viewer, explaining how actions in business will affect people’s lives. An experienced speaker and conference chair, as well as being a perfect moderator, corporate clients have included EY, CBRE, the Association of Business Recovery Professionals, Barclays and Emap Publishing.

Starting out as a business analyst at HSBC, Ian began his career in financial journalism career at the Daily Telegraph, moving to The Guardian and the Mail on Sunday, before joining The Sun as Business Editor in 2000. Whilst there, he was named Business Journalist of the Year at both the UK Press Awards and the London Press Club Awards. Ian went on to become Business and City Editor at The Times, where he was honoured at the UK Press Awards. Ian’s views are highly sought after and well respected within the business community, making him an in demand corporate host and commentator.
