Sandi Toksvig's Biography

Sandi Toksvig is a British comedian, author, actor and television presenter. She is an accomplished awards host, conference presenter, and a very entertaining after dinner speaker.

Sandi is widely known for her work in broadcasting, having worked at the forefront of the British media for over four decades. She was a presenter on the hugely popular Great British Bake Off and has regularly appeared on popular TV shows such as Call My Bluff, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Mock the Week, and Have I Got News For You.  She hosted BBC2’s Antiques Master and Channel 4’s 1001 Things You Should Know, and presented children’s series such as No. 73, Saturday Starship and Motormouth.

She regularly appears on radio shows including BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz, and I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue, and formerly presented travel programme Excess Baggage.  Sandi was inducted into the UK Radio Hall of Fame in recognition of her immense contributions to UK radio.

Her comedy career began at Cambridge University, where she performed in the first all-woman Cambridge Footlights show. She performed at the first night of The Comedy Store in London, and was part of The Comedy Store Players improvisational comedy team. Sandi has appeared in several theatre shows such as The Boyfriend, Old King Cole, and Comedy of Errors. 

She authored and co-authored several theatre productions including Big Night Out, The Pocket Dream, Charity Begins, and Bully Boy. Sandi has written several children’s books, as well as a columnist for the Sunday Telegraph, Good Housekeeping and The Lady.

Sandi was appointed president of the Women of the Year Lunch, is a supporter of Liberty injustice group, and a patron of Humanist UK. In 2015, She co-founded political group the Women’s Equality Party, which is dedicated to fighting for gender equality.

Sandi is a great option for an awards host, presenter and an after dinner speaker. She is a great choice for a wide range of events and a very natural speaker.  She always brings her laid back approach, humour and dry wit to entertain and inspire audiences.
