Nicki Shields's Biography

Nicki Shields is an accomplished broadcaster and event host who brings the pace of elite motorsport together with the curiosity of a science communicator. Known for her sharp live interviewing and calm authority under pressure, she turns complex technology, sustainability and performance into stories that land with any audience.

Nicki’s on-screen career began in 2012, and in April 2014 she became the pit lane reporter for the FIA Formula E Championship—putting her at the heart of the world’s leading electric street-racing series. In 2024, she took the helm as lead commentator for F1 Academy, helping bring the next generation of talent to global audiences. In November 2024, Formula E announced Nicki as lead broadcast presenter for Season 11—its first-ever female lead presenter—alongside ITV’s free-to-air partnership, including a bespoke highlights show hosted by Nicki after every race weekend.

In December 2025, Formula E confirmed she would lead its Season 12 broadcast team, continuing to connect fans to the sport’s innovation and on-track drama. With a degree in Biological and Zoological Sciences, Nicki has built a distinctive career at the intersection of sport, innovation and the environment, including CNN International programming such as Supercharged and Saved by the Future. She is an FIA Girls on Track ambassador, using her platform to champion diversity, inclusion and STEM pathways in motorsport.

Away from the commentary box, she earned an International Category B racing driver licence and raced Roborace—the autonomous race car—and won. She regularly presents ITV’s Goodwood Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival coverage, and has fronted events including the GQ Car Awards, CarFest for BBC Children in Need and New Scientist Live. In August 2025, ITV announced Nicki would lead coverage of the British Touring Car Championship, debuting at Knockhill and continuing across the 2026 season—bringing the same energy and insight to keynotes and moderation as she does trackside.
