Mark Fabian's Biography
Mark Fabian is a world leader in the philosophy and science of happiness and wellbeing, especially how public policy can promote human flourishing. He is associate professor of public policy at the University of Warwick, and an affiliate Fellow at Cambridge University’s Bennett School for Public Policy. He is the author of Beyond Happy: How to Rethink Happiness and Find Fulfilment, an Amazon top 5 book in psychology.
Mark is adept at communicating with general audiences, having written for The Scotsman, Irish Times, Daily Express, and Daily Mirror and appearing on numerous podcasts including Behavioural Grooves, Happier at Work, and Accidental Gods. He also hosts ePODstemology, which platforms early career researchers with bold new ideas for tackling the many challenges of the 21st century. He is one of the most popular lecturers at the University of Warwick, with student satisfaction scores consistently above 90%.
Mark’s research is highly impactful. He has advised the OECD and UK and Australian Governments, and worked extensively with charities and other non-governmental organisations including the UK national anti-poverty charity Turn2us. He led the wellbeing module of the 2025 European Social Survey, one of the region’s most important pieces of data infrastructure.
Prior to becoming an academic, Mark was a professional tennis coach and he maintains an active interest in athletics and sports science
