Louis Theroux is a British-American documentary filmmaker, journalist, broadcaster, and author renowned for his empathetic and immersive exploration of the human condition. With his unique approach combining gentle questioning and informality, Theroux delves into intriguing beliefs, behaviors, and institutions, illuminating complex social issues and human dilemmas. Theroux currently presents and contributes as a producer to the BBC Two series “Louis Theroux’s Altered States” (2018-present). He gained prominence with his award-winning series “Louis Theroux’s Weird Weekends” (1998-2000) and “When Louis Met…” (2000-02), wherein he spent time with controversial figures, extreme believers, and members of various subcultures. From officers and inmates at San Quentin prison to the zealous followers of the Westboro Baptist Church, Theroux’s documentaries have encompassed a wide spectrum of human experiences.
