Linda Yueh's Biography

Dr Linda Yueh CBE is a renowned keynote speaker.  She is also an author, writer and broadcaster. She is a sought after speaker on the global economy as well as a high profile moderator of high level events.

Dr Yueh is Fellow in Economics at St Edmund Hall, Oxford University, and Adjunct Professor of Economics at London Business School. She is an Associate Fellow at Chatham House. Professor Yueh was Visiting Professor at LSE IDEAS and Chair of the LSE Economic Diplomacy Commission. She was also Visiting Professor of Economics at Peking University. She was previously the BBC Chief Business Correspondent and Bloomberg TV’s Economics Editor.

She is a widely published author. Her latest books are: The Great Crashes: Lessons from Global Meltdowns and How to Prevent Them (Financial Times’s The Best New Economics Books) and The Great Economists: How Their Ideas Can Help Us Today (The Times’s Best Business Books of the Year). The U.S. edition is: What Would the Great Economists Do? How Twelve Brilliant Minds Would Solve Today’s Biggest Problems (Newsweek’s Best Books of the Year).  She has also written several books on China and Geoeconomic Strategy over the years.

She is a regular TV and radio presenter, including for BBC Radio 4 and the World Service, as well as having fronted BBC TV series, such as ‘The New Middle Class’, ‘Next Billionaires’, and ‘Working Lives’. She was Chief Business Correspondent for BBC News and presenter of ‘Talking Business with Linda Yueh’ for BBC World TV and BBC News Channel. She had been Economics Editor and anchor at Bloomberg TV.

Professor Yueh was an Adviser to the Board of Trade and a member of the Independent Review Panel on Ring-fencing and Proprietary Trading for the UK Government. She has advised the World Bank, European Commission, Asian Development Bank, World Economic Forum in Davos, among others.  She serves on the Advisory Board of LSE IDEAS and on the Policy Committee of the Centre for Economic Performance (CEP), both at the London School of Economics.

Linda is a Non-Executive Director of UK publicly listed companies and the Chair of Baillie Gifford’s The Schiehallion Fund, which invests in private, growth companies.
