Lameen Abdul-Malik's Biography

Lameen Abdul-Malik is a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, visionary futurist, and leading global expert on leadership transformation, ethical AI, sustainable development, and GCC-Africa collaboration, and an outstanding keynote speaker who has inspired corporate audiences, government officials, and innovators worldwide.

He is the Creator of the IMPACT Framework, a six-dimension methodology that turns strategic intention into measurable transformation, tested across €100M+ UN projects, government initiatives spanning 41 African countries, and entrepreneurial ventures. His work bridges the worlds of international diplomacy, technology innovation, and purpose-driven business. Lameen has committed himself to working with likeminded people to positively impact one billion people by 2032 through scalable systems in health, sustainability, and innovation. He writes regularly on LinkedIn about leadership and purpose driven impact.

Lameen’s career spans 25+ years at the intersection of global governance, science, and transformation. He joined the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in 2002, where he managed nuclear science and technology programs for development across Africa; establishing Zambia’s first cancer hospital (which treats 1,500 patients annually), developing regional strategies for food security and healthcare, and enhancing radiation safety infrastructure across the continent. His leadership earned him the IAEA Merit Award for Outstanding Performance. In 2017, he was appointed AFRA Focal Point, coordinating Africa’s formal agreement on leveraging nuclear science for sustainable development.

Prior to the IAEA, Lameen spent eight years at the UK Government’s Department for International Development (DFID), shaping international trade policy to empower developing nations.

In 2021, Lameen was headhunted as Director of THINK at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Institute, Saudi Arabia’s premier global think tank. He launched the world’s first global infectious diseases index tracking 60 pathogens daily (in partnership with a San Francisco AI company), initiated white papers on biodiversity, skills for the future, and tuberculosis vaccines (engaging the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation), and developed healthcare, sustainability, and AI/robotics roadmaps to address humanity’s greatest challenges.

Currently, Lameen serves as CEO of Honest Management, a Dubai-based boutique strategic consultancy advising governments, CEOs, and boards on transformation, innovation, and cross-border collaboration. He was recently a Senior Advisor at Roland Berger, Europe’s leading strategic consultancy, and a Special Adviser to Mohamed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Morocco on green hydrogen, venture capital, and sustainability strategy. He also serves on the Advisory Board of Nyla Bank (Ghana), which aims to become the world’s largest digital Islamic bank, empowering one billion people with Shariah-compliant financial tools.

Lameen founded 100 IDEAs Café (2022), a platform that has already secured funding for two innovations: a US-based advanced retina scanning company and a US-Colombia biodiversity blockchain solution tackling climate justice. He has mentored dozens of startups and regularly interacts with venture capitalist (VC) entities to advise startups on technology, health, and consumer goods boards across the Middle East and Africa.

Lameen Abdul-Malik holds an MBA in International Management from the University of Exeter and a BA (Hons) in Economics from the University of Leicester. He is a UK national and UAE Golden Visa resident based in Dubai.

Lameen’s mission is clear: to impact one billion lives over the next decade by helping leaders, organizations, and governments transform ambitious visions into scalable, measurable impact. He is passionate about coffee, having written for 15+ years on his blog FromCoffeeWithLove.com and been featured on CNN and Arab News for his unique take on culture, connection, and conscious living.

Lameen Abdul-Malik's Speaking Topics

  • The IMPACT Framework: Turning Intention into Transformation

How do leaders close the gap between ambitious strategy and measurable results? Lameen shares his proprietary six-dimension IMPACT Framework, developed from his 18 years managing €100M+ UN projects, governments spanning 41 African countries, and a coffee shop that broke even in 11 months. A practical, repeatable system for building purposeful, profitable organizations.

  • Building Knowledge Markets That Actually Serve Communities

Why do so many well-funded initiatives fail to create lasting change? Through stories spanning Zambia's cancer hospital, Morocco's green hydrogen strategy, and GCC-Africa partnerships, Lameen reveals the universal principles that work whether you're managing countries or communities and the three questions every leader must answer before launching their next initiative.

  • The Seven Illusions of Global Power: What Leaders Need to Know

There are unwritten rules governing global markets, diplomacy, and innovation; rules that determine who wins and who gets left behind. Lameen decodes the hidden patterns of global power dynamics, offering audiences strategic clarity on navigating complexity, building cross-border partnerships, and creating resilient systems in uncertain times.

  • GCC-Africa Collaboration: From Transactions to Transformation

The greatest untapped opportunity in sustainable development lies between the GCC and Africa. Lameen shares why most partnerships fail and how to build knowledge markets, capital flows, and innovation ecosystems that create mutual value. Essential insights for investors, policymakers, and corporate leaders operating across regions.

  • The Billion Lives Mission: Scaling Impact Beyond Incremental Change

How do you impact one billion lives? Not through heroic leadership, but through systems that multiply. Lameen reveals the mathematics of transformation: how training oncologists creates more impact than buying equipment, why mastery compounds while infrastructure depreciates, and how leaders can shift from addition to multiplication.

  • Ethical AI, Innovation, and the Future of Humanity

As AI becomes a billion times smarter than humans, what's our role? Drawing on his work at the FII Institute, IAEA, and advisory roles across governments, Lameen explores the ethical questions, innovation opportunities, and governance frameworks needed to ensure technology serves communities and not replaces them.

  • Leadership in Complexity: Lessons from 25 Years Across 41 Countries

What does nuclear diplomacy teach us about corporate strategy? What does a struggling café teach us about UN projects? Lameen shares pattern recognition insights from navigating governments, startups, think tanks, and global crises, offering audiences frameworks for decision-making under uncertainty, stakeholder alignment, and building systems that endure.

  • From Coffee Shops to Cancer Hospitals: Universal Principles of Transformation

Scale changes tactics but it doesn't change principles. Through surprising parallels between managing €100M in international development and running a Cape Town café, Lameen reveals the universal leadership principles that work at every scale: listening to stakeholders, measuring what matters, and building with people, not for them.
